How is MSFT’s Bing doing in the search engine world? Well they were up 1/2 percent to 9.85% in June over May’s 9.23.
The search engine ‘Ask’ also had a marginal net gain in the lucrative search engine service market. Overall, GOOG was down 1%
What does that 1% represent in real dollar value? If you take GOOGs 2009 annual revenue, which is primarily search engine related, $23.6B, one percent of that is $236M. This may be a conservative estimate due to the fact that total search volume continues to grow in the 20% range.
Although I am encouraged by the improvement in Bing’s market share, I was expecting a much higher percentage by now after all it’s been more than a year since Bing’s launch date. I rate MSFT a HOLD at the time of this post. I also rate GOOG a HOLD.
