I am currently buying high dividend yielding stocks, including ED, for my retirement account. If taxes are going up on dividends, then I am going to shelter that income. ED is paying 4.94% and has buy ratings from The Street. This gives me 3/4 of my target position in ED.
But what if the tax cuts are extended for some or all including those making over $250K/yr? This could be extra bullish for high dividend yielding stocks.
Thoughts: The dividend rate is 5+%, paying much better than any fixed income investment. Based on the financial review, this stock appears to be a safe income stock for the year. I look at this as a 1 year store of money. I currently have 1/2 of my target purchase of this stock.

Bottom line, this is a low risk, high yield investment. I will watch this stock after it hits its $34.80 strike price for additional investment.
